Overview
Holds the primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the professional Charge Description Master (CDM). This includes, maintaining revenue integrity of Chargemaster files, fee schedules, and charge capture through annual updates, periodic audits, and ongoing reviews. Serves as a resource in developing and documenting routine custom billing system tests, builds, and enhancements that will improve maintenance and / or prevent billing errors. Reviews Current Procedural Terminology coding and CMS updates and disseminates information to the professional charging team and other appropriate staff. May work with Revenue Cycle, Finance, and clinical departments to analyze charging and billing processes to ensure accurate and optimal revenue capture by developing trending, modeling, and other assessment tools. Works with coding personnel to ensure the codes in the Chargemaster are accurate and current. Works with the professional charging team and / or clinical departments to ensure proper revenue reconciliation. Assist the Hospital Charge Capture and / or the Nurse Audit teams with various functions including a review of charges on patients accounts to validate appropriate charge capture. Work with various Revenue Cycle, Finance, and clinical departments to analyze charging, coding and billing processes to ensure accurate and optimal revenue capture by developing trending, modeling, and / or using other assessment tools. May also work with clinical departments to ensure proper revenue reconciliation.
