GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Functions under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides safe and effective delivery of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed health care provider.
Provides appropriate clinical and non-clinical information to facilitate visit process.
Maintains sterility and cleanliness of the environment.
Maintains supplies, equipment and instruments.
Supports and performs clerical functions as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND / OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current registration / certification as a Medical Assistant preferred, or military medical experience with MA certification / registration required.
CPR training required and / or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an approved school for Medical Assistants (MOA, MAA, MA).
One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
