Job Summary

We are looking for an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.

In the Animal Care Technician 1 role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to monitor, observe, and record animal health and welfare daily, as well as complete various standard animal husbandry duties.

  • Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing.
  • Follow all procedures to maintain housing areas, including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas.
  • Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals; and operating equipment following all safety guidelines.
  • You may also be involved in the breeding and weaning program, performing various duties from weaning and sexing, to ensuring appropriate production levels are met.
  • Work cooperatively with the on-site supervisor and / or facility veterinarian to assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species to include mice, rats and other rodents and possibly rabbits.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) to twelve (12) months related experience in animal husbandry.
  • Interest in achieving ALAT certification upon eligibility
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

    The pay range for this position is $23-25 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
