Job description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Enforce all company expectations, handbook policies, and operational procedures. Lead by example in emphasizing respect, diversity, and inclusion for all teammates. Actively engage in providing ongoing feedback to direct reports, peers, and company leadership through team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and conference calls.
  • Process Optimization : Identify opportunities for operational improvement, implement streamlined processes, and drive efficiencies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Quality Assurance : Maintain and uphold the highest standards of quality control, ensuring adherence to established protocols and delivering exceptional products / services.
  • Resource Management : Effectively allocate and manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and budgets, to meet operational objectives and deliver projects within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Team Development : Oversee safety training, skills development, and onboarding programs. Set effective goals, measure progress, and identify opportunities for continuous development opportunities.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain : Oversee inventory management, stock levels, and supply chain logistics to optimize inventory turnover, minimize waste, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Safety and Compliance : Enforce safety standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment, addressing safety concerns promptly and effectively. Manage teammate accidents, injuries, and incidents by reporting and documenting them promptly.
  • Performance Metrics : Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive data-informed decision-making. Establish operational metrics / scorecards and general reporting to gauge site efficiency and individual teammate performance.
  • Customer Focus : Maintain a customer-centric approach, ensuring that customer expectations are not only met but exceeded, while swiftly addressing and resolving customer-related concerns.
  • Team Collaboration : Collaborate closely with site leadership to ensure their full engagement, accountability, and responsibility for daily operational activities, meeting daily goals, expectations, and fostering teammate engagement. Maintain ongoing partnerships with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Customer Experience, and Transportation Logistics, to ensure on-time deliveries, minimize route delays, and provide superior service to customers.
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations : Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Reporting and Communication : Prepare regular reports and communicate operational performance, challenges, and opportunities to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.

Do you have the following qualifications?

  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager role or similar within the industry.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with relevant software and systems.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Previous experience in resource management, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Dedication to safety and adherence to quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects that require judgment and initiative, along with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Capability to motivate and develop teammates and build collaborative work teams.
  • Willingness and ability to work with a sense of purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Your education & experience should be similar to :

  • A high school diploma / GED is required, while a bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Materials Management, or a related discipline is preferred (equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered).
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of operations management experience, with at least 5 years in wholesale / distribution and supervisory experience overseeing 50+ employees.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AS400 experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations for warehouse environments and vehicles.
  • Working conditions :

  • Warehouse environment with variable weather conditions, exposure to noise and vibrations from forklifts / other equipment, will work near moving mechanical parts, such as lifts
  • Travel Required, 15-20%

    The required physical abilities to perform this job :

  • Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Occasional reaching and carrying with hands and arms, ability to lift and carry 60 pounds
  • Able to hear and speak into telephone, close visual work on a computer terminal, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments and warehouse equipment

    The estimated annualized base salary range for the Branch Manager is $80,000-$90,000. Animal Supply Company (ASC) compensation is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to role, level, and location. In addition, ASC’s pay can vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience for each candidate for the posted position. Included in ASC’s total compensation are benefits such as medical, dental, and retirement.
