Applications Supervisor (HIM)
We are seeking a full-time Applications Supervisor (HIM) to join our team! The Applications Supervisor is responsible for supervising the applications analyst team and interacting with business leaders to ensure successful use of applications. This position also serves as expert for the Healthcare side of the business and requires knowledge of healthcare functions and workflows. Additionally, the applications team is responsible for managing amenities and financial applications. This is NOT a remote position.
Job Functions (essential):
- Continuously work with the healthcare team to ensure that applications meet their requirements and use them to maximize efficiency.
- Trains users in the proper usage of the applications.
- Serves as escalation point for application support team members that may need technical assistance or vendor guidance.
- Ensure applications team compliance with SLA requirements.
- Mentors and trains new application support team members through their onboarding process.
- Manages time sheets and PTO requests for applications team.
- Serves as interface between applications team members and infrastructure and support team leaders.
- Maintains technical documentation for application support, coordinating with teammates the items that they are responsible for updating.
- Leads daily, weekly, and monthly meetings for the applications team, as well as one-on-one meetings for direct reports.
- Manages and delegates application project deliverables as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.
- Collaborates with departmental leaders and assists them in defining opportunities for improvement.
- Performs administrative functions as directed.
- Tests applications and works with vendors to correct any issues.
- Promotes system security and patient confidentiality and helps ensure compliance.
- Reports unresolved issues to the Director of Information Technology and records problem resolutions in the appropriate logs.
- Participates in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of current clinical operations, processes, and terminology.
- Strong, diversified knowledge of healthcare billing practices.
- Moderate technical expertise includes knowledge of current computer technologies, and peripheral equipment.
- Proven ability to speak and write well in English including appropriate grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed within the department.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong critical thinking skills required.
- Ability to work with diverse groups including physicians, front-line clinical staff, leaders and individual contributors.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to drive company vehicle including a golf cart.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in health information management or ten years relevant work experience along with HIMSS certification(s).
- Nursing experience preferred.
Experience:
- Three to five years of progressive experience in the health information or information systems roles.
- One year desktop support experience preferred.
- Evidence of continuing education, such as certifications, is a plus
- Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of interfaces.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
