Fast-paced, process-related manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Area Manager to lead an assigned manufacturing area in a 24 / 7 operation with direct and indirect reports. As the Manufacturing Area Manager, you will report to the Plant Manager and will have Production Supervisors reporting to you. Daily you will be responsible for the following tasks :
- Taking ownership of safety, quality, KPIs, employee development, productivity and continuous improvement of a delegated area of the manufacturing site
- Participating within the management team to meet plant objectives
- Completing daily, weekly and monthly reporting and data collection
- Optimizing scheduling and changeover activities
- Developing and attaining goals, objectives and targeted measurables of the plant related to production
- Holding others accountable to established goals and directives
- Identifying process improvements to decrease scrap, increase efficiencies and find cost savings
- Coaching, mentoring, developing and leading direct and indirect reports
- Adjusting manning as needed, based on production schedules and goals
- Completing root cause analysis and developing countermeasures
- Other duties as directed by the manager
Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, be able to hold others accountable and enjoy floor presence. Although more initially, individuals should enjoy spending up to 50% of their time on the manufacturing floor, supporting a 24 / 7 operation. REQUIREMENTS for the Manufacturing Area Manager :
1. Bachelor's degree, ideally in a technical field2. Minimum of five years of similar manufacturing operations management experience
3. Experience working in process-oriented manufacturing environments (examples include chemical, coating, plastics, refinery, food, beverage, packaging, etc.)4. Passion for supporting a safety first mentality 5. Experience completing CI functions, including scrap reductions, improving line efficiencies, etc.
6. Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports 7. Supervision experience in non-union work environments 8. Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required :
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 2. ERP experience
3. Experience working in highly automated environments 4. Lean Certification 5. Willing to relocate in the future for promotional opportunities Why work for this organization :
