Job descriptionOrganize and implement the Art Camp curriculum which includes (but is not limited to) the following : Photo editing Basics of Movie / Film Production Basics of Animation Basics of Fine Art (Drawing, Painting, etc.) Prepare for and deliver up to 10 weeks of camp programming, including creating supply lists, curriculum development and teaching daily lessons Implement an interactive, age-appropriate curriculum Supervise general counselors (when applicable) Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper's experience Set-up camp room and clean up daily Implement daily safety check of art making tools. Practice personal leadership skills. Model appropriate behavior for campers. Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors. Additional responsibilities as required. At least 1 year as an educator Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate design and tool use skills for elementary school-aged campers. Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral. Passion for art, informal education and youth programs. Knowledge of summer camps preferred. Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently. Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise. Up to 10 hours of prep work per week 5 / 1 / 2025 - 5 / 31 / 2025; Staff training 6 / 2 / 2025-6 / 6 / 2025 Summer Direct Service Hours : June 9 , 2025-August 8, 2025 8 : 00am - 4 : 00pm, Monday - Friday

The JCCSF Summer Camp is now hiring Art Specialists for 2025!
Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.
Art-focused camps are in session June 2 - August 22, 2025.
The Art Specialist creates, organizes, and implements 1 to 2-week sessions of camp throughout the summer. The Art Specialist is responsible for leading Digital Photography, Movie Makers, and Animation camps, and is also responsible for the general art camp Art Adventures.
- Digital Photography camp is offered for campers in grades 3-5 and 6-8 separately. Campers will be introduced to the basics of digital photography and hone their artistic skills through hands-on experience and exploration of various techniques.
- Movie Makers camp is offered for campers in grades 3-5. Campers will be introduced to the creative process around making a movie and developing an understanding of visual storytelling.
- Animation camp is offered for campers in grades 3-5 and 6-8 separately. Campers will be introduced to the basics of digital animation and the different techniques of animation.
The Art Specialist position requires strong classroom management skills and must be able to implement a well-rounded art curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11. This position also requires the ability to demonstrate multiple techniques, styles, and mediums of art.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Will be working directly with youth ages 5-13. Most Art Specialty Camps will take place on-site at the JCCSF. We will utilize spaces such as the Art Studio and the individual camp rooms.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift equipment / supplies / assorted material of up to 50lbs, with or without assistance. Work entails standing and walking throughout the day.
