Art Director - Channel / SES

NOTE : We are seeking an experienced Art Director or Art Director / Copywriter duo to join our campaign team for the Channel / SES group. This group is also tasked with new business and other projects.

About Us

Cheil Worldwide is the 10th-largest creative agency in the world. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, we were founded by Samsung in 1973 to grow its local and global business. While Samsung is still one of our main clients, our roster has evolved to include other globally recognized brands such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, ESPN, Lego, Nivea, PayPal, Starbucks and many more.

Cheil Dallas serves as the lead agency for all Samsung projects in North America and is located at Legacy Central in Plano, Texas. It's the home base for more than 200 creative problem-solvers who share a passion for developing groundbreaking ideas rooted in data, driven by insights, and enabled by innovative technology.

About You

Who you are is just as important as (if not more so than!) what you can do.

  • You're a creator to your core. Making things is what makes you happy.
  • You're insatiably curious. About the world. About technology. About art, literature, music, gaming, sports, and a host of other things.
  • You're obsessed with design.
  • You're hip to all the trendy styles but you're always looking to push what's next.
  • You're a trained conceptual thinker. You're full of ideas and are as comfortable jamming on a concept for a billboard or a poster as you are an integrated campaign and a big tv spot.
  • You possess a genuine passion for work - yours or anyone else's - that elicits a visceral reaction.
  • You're a connoisseur of culture, both pop and not, because the more you know about the world, the better equipped you are to disrupt it.
  • You're always searching for answers to your questions about your craft, clients, and consumers.
  • You're a visual storyteller learning to harness the power of a captivating narrative.
  • You see every brief as an opportunity to push your creative thinking and learn from the ideas others come up with.
  • You understand the concept behind a visual execution is as important as the design itself. Without the why, there is no what.
  • You recognize the value of collaborating with other creatives and other disciplines.
  • You're not afraid to ask questions or request help, but are resourceful enough to try figuring it out for yourself first.
  • You always bring interesting idea to the table...even when no one asks for them.
  • You keep one eye on the finite details and the other on the final composition.
  • You display your thinking and design with pride, building presentations as beautiful as the ideas within them.
  • Your thick skin is impenetrable and you see constructive criticism as an opportunity to think differently and continue to challenge yourself.
  • You have a perspective and you voice it with confidence.
  • You're anxious to get out of your comfort zone and onto productions and client meetings.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines and varying levels of pressure.
  • You're able to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and requirements.
  • Your teammates can count on you to deliver solid concepts and well-designed work on time and in the appropriate format.
  • You bring good vibes and good old-fashioned fun to work every day.
  • You're driven by a need to beat your own best.

About the Role

Like you, this job is multidimensional. And every aspect is crucial to creating culturally relevant work.

  • Ideate integrated campaigns, and all their associated bits, both independently and with a creative partner.
  • Be enthusiastic for each project knowing doing the little things well lead to bigger and greater projects.
  • Show up and show off with a variety of impressive ideas for every ask.
  • Deliver creative assets that are strategically sound and directly hit the insight.
  • Work with the team to deliver compelling ideas, scripts, and story boards for a variety of film content from social, to OLV, to big tv spots.
  • Collaborate with fellow creatives and cross-functional teams to deliver world class creative.
  • Create comps, illustrations, mood boards, storyboards, and whatever else is needed to visually communicate campaigns, spots, experiences, and anything else we want / need to create.
  • Work with partner agencies to ensure all design supports brand standards.
  • Work through production to help execute all ideas flawlessly.
  • Dive deep into the details of the what and the why.
  • Deck ideas so well that you don't have to say a word to sell them. But definitely still talk or else it's awkward.
  • Present concepts, copy and art, during internal and client reviews.
  • Be receptive to feedback and edits, but not afraid to defend ideas and executions you believe deliver on the brief.
  • Learn from every campaign. Use the results to make the next one even more incredible.
  • Take ownership of projects and help set the standard for creative excellence in the design discipline.
  • Learn and obsess over the style guide for our company and our clients and uphold it daily.
  • Contribute to an open, honest, judgement-free environment where team members feel valued and empowered.
  • Speak to the heart as much as the mind because emotions drive transactions.
  • About the Requirements

You've got to check the boxes before you can think outside of them.

  • Bachelor's Degree in art, advertising, design, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of agency and / or in-house creative experience focused on developing digital assets and contributing to larger campaigns.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Illustration and hand skills are a plus.
  • An online portfolio of smart and exciting work that shows a range of conceptual and tactical executions.
  • Experience with concepting integrated campaigns.
  • Mentoring of junior creatives a plus.
  • Passionate, positive, and solution seeker.
  • Open to travel, extended hours, and weekend work as necessary.
  • Able to work in a hybrid office environment - heavily preferred.
  • Relocation assistance available.
  • Possibility for remote dependent on willingness to travel and home state location. Not all will be eligible.
