Collaborate within the framework of the educational and treatment teams and provide art, drama, music, and dance instruction for students in grades K-12. Support academic and behavior management in keeping with each child’s IEP and treatment plans.
Essential Job Functions
- Research, design and develop expressive arts curriculum that supports Colorado Academic Standards.
- Write curriculum for the class which defines a sequence of skills to be taught at each grade level.
- Provide classroom instruction to identified curriculum and implement IEPs and treatment plans in an appropriate manner as scheduled.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to connect instruction to core academics.
- Provide a clean, safe, and therapeutic learning environment.
- Provide a therapeutic balance of hierarchy and affiliation, always demonstrating an understanding of the emotional needs of the children.
- Implement TCC procedures for behavior management (both verbal and non-verbal) and physical management, balancing client’s needs for structure, nurturing, learning and recreation.
- Form trusting relationships with the children by forming a therapeutic alliance and demonstrating an appropriate and nurturing adult role model.
- Maintain necessary inventory to effectively deliver quality instruction and manage assigned budget.
- Collaborate within the framework of a team.
- Responsible for maintaining up to date applicable personal professional license and / or professional certification. The employee must ensure that a current and unexpired initial or professional license or certification be always on file with the Human Resources Department.
- Respect racial, ethnic, and cultural differences of all clients and staff.
- Other related duties as assigned.
