Job Summary
The Art Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate visual arts instruction to students in grades Pre-K through 8. The successful candidate will foster creativity while integrating Catholic values and contributing to the spiritual and academic growth of students.
Job Responsibilities
Plan and teach art lessons that reflect both the Archdiocesan curriculum and national standards for visual arts education.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative classroom environment that encourages artistic expression and critical thinking.
Integrate Catholic values and teachings into art instruction when appropriate.
Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and at school/parish events.
Maintain classroom materials, order supplies, and ensure safe use of art equipment and resources.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff on cross-curricular or special projects.
Support school-wide liturgical, cultural, and community events through visual arts.
Maintain accurate student records and communicate progress to parents and administration.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school functions as required.
Uphold and model the values of the Catholic faith in personal and professional interactions.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
Missouri Teaching Certification (Art K–12 preferred) or eligibility to obtain certification.
Previous teaching experience in a school setting, preferably Catholic or private.
Practicing Catholic preferred; must support the mission of Catholic education.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to inspire and nurture creativity across a wide range of age groups and skill levels.
Compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God’s Children training and background screening.
