    Job Description

    PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

    The Dean of Student Services provides leadership in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive student success program. Oversees the office of Admissions, Advising, Counseling, Recruitment, and is responsible for registration, recruitment, and student discipline. Collaborates with other LSC administrators, faculty, and staff to provide service to students and serve as their advocate. Work is evaluated by the Vice President of Student Success in terms of desired outcomes and goals achieved.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Make decisions concerning policies and procedures; serve as student advocate at various LSC meetings
  • Evaluate and improve services to students
  • Direct admissions and registration process; prepare related reports
  • Maintain an accessible program for which students can receive academic advisement, and career / personal counseling
  • Provides support to the Financial Aid office as needed
  • Plans out-of-classroom experiences; advises student organizations
  • Supports retention and recruitment by corresponding with students and helping them develop their schedules
  • Creates campus brochures highlighting student services
  • Enforces college policies and procedures; Helps create a safe and pleasant learning environment
  • Plans and / or coordinates special projects involving student services
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS :

  • Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a management level position
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master's degree

    Hiring salary range is $89,399 - $102,809.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
