Job description

About Us

Embassy Veterinary Center is a well-established, community-focused small animal practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to pets and the people who love them. Our hospital is supported by an experienced, collaborative team that values professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning. We pride ourselves on a positive workplace culture where veterinarians are respected, supported, and given the resources they need to practice excellent medicine.

Knoxville is a highly pet-friendly city, known for its welcoming community, outdoor spaces, and appreciation for the human-animal bond. Outside of work, the area offers something for everyone—hiking and kayaking in the Great Smoky Mountains, weekends on nearby lakes, a vibrant downtown with local restaurants and breweries, University of Tennessee sporting events, and an active arts and music scene. With a lower cost of living, no state income tax, and easy access to both outdoor adventure and city amenities, Knoxville is an exceptional place to live, work, and recharge.

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, providing high-quality medical treatment to dogs and cats. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and pet owners to ensure the best outcomes for our animal patients.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough examinations of animals to diagnose health issues and develop treatment plans.

    • Conduct surgeries, including spay/neuter, dental extractions, soft tissue procedures, and emergency surgeries as applicable.

    • Administer and prescribe medications, vaccinations, and other treatments based on current veterinary standards and patient needs.

    • Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., radiographs, bloodwork, urinalysis) and communicate results to clients effectively.

    • Provide preventive care, including wellness checks and nutritional counseling.

    • Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure the safety and health of animals.

    • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.

    • Complete patient records within the practice-specified timeframe and standards.

    • Educate pet owners on proper pet care, including grooming, nutrition, and general husbandry practices.

    • Handle animals safely and effectively, employing appropriate restraint techniques when necessary.

    • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to provide comprehensive care.

    • Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.

    • Support a positive hospital culture by actively engaging in staff meetings, training sessions, and day-to-day collaboration.

    • Comply with all practice protocols and policies, including OSHA, DEA, and local veterinary board regulations.

    • Actively participate in community outreach events, client education opportunities, and public relations efforts to promote the practice’s services, support pet wellness, and contribute to client retention and practice growth.

    Qualifications

    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.

    • Valid veterinary license in the state of Tennessee.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.

    • Commitment to providing compassionate care to all animals.

This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their owners while working in a supportive environment dedicated to professional growth.
