The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) at The University of Southern California (USC) seeks a fulltime early-to-mid-career research faculty member, preferably tenure track, with a background in gerontology and / or human behavior. This person will strengthen our existing research portfolio in the areas of elder abuse and caregivers with a focus on populations who may be experiencing specific stressors, such as those in under-resourced communities and those caring for adults with dementing illness. The ideal candidate will join a top-tier medical school committed to educational innovation, research growth and development and community-focused healthcare at a time of excitement and forward momentum. The Department vision, "we are leaders in health and social justice for all" is reflected in its research, education, clinical care, community, and advocacy work across USC and into the community.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in growing our research through federal and non-federal sources of funding, will support the growth and development of students and junior faculty, and will have an interest in evolving into a leader in aging research within the department. The position also promotes a culture of inclusivity where all faculty, staff, and learners are valued, and all voices are heard and ensures and models a culture of professionalism in accordance with KSOM at USC policies.
Responsibilities / Expectations :
- Secure external funding as PI or a co-PI on projects related to aging research and achieve full funding for self and team within two years.
- Develop and maintain a high-impact research program on aging research including elder abuse and caregivers.
- Collaboratively advance the scholarly portfolio on aging research in the Department including elder abuse and caregivers.
- Foster a culture of inquiry among team members (faculty and staff) and learners.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring medical and graduate students through seminars, workshops in group or individual settings.
- Contribute to the intellectual mission of the Department of Family Medicine, KSOM, and the USC via faculty committees, professional development activities, and department service opportunities.
- Promote collaborative research and scholarship within the larger institution, such as establishing relationships with other departments at KSOM and other schools at USC such as the School of Gerontology or School of Social Work

Salary and Application Information
The annual base salary range for this position is $152,155 - $191,648. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
