Design Engineering Manager
Job Description
As a Design Engineering Manager, you will oversee the operations of design engineers, ensuring that specifications, drawings, and test plans are thoroughly reviewed and approved. You will play a crucial role in monitoring custom hardware requests and coordinating with various departments to fulfill project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise design engineers and review and approve specifications, drawings, and test plans.
- Schedule, forecast, and monitor custom hardware requests and deliveries.
- Review user requirements and prepare cost and specification estimates for customized hardware parts.
- Consult with the sales team to confirm design specifications.
- Develop comprehensive drawing packages for new hardware designs, including hardware drawings, specifications, test plans, and documentation.
- Respond to queries from hardware manufacturers and test hardware according to test plans.
- Generate and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and forms to meet Tecan US Quality and Regulatory guidelines.
- Understand and interpret regulations and guidelines applicable to the Business Unit.
- Perform essential tasks as assigned and adapt productively to changes.
- Ensure compliance with local safety procedures and OSHA regulations, and report any safety concerns.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical engineering expertise.
- Proficiency in estimating and mechanical drawing.
- Advanced skills in drafting and knowledge of drafting standards.
- Proficiency in PRO/Engineer, CREO, and/or Windchill.
- Working knowledge of automation components and controls.
- Ability to use instrument control software for component testing.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in solid modeling and drawing creation.
- Familiarity with robotics and instrumentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with lab automation or life sciences (., PCR, instrumentation).
- Basic familiarity with SAP.
- Experience interacting with scientists or technical end users.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a general low level of noise from lab equipment, with intermittent sounds in certain areas. The temperature may vary throughout the building due to construction and layout changes. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
