Job description

Teamwork makes the stream work.

Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the US, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About the team

The Revenue Operations team is responsible for maximizing yield through supply optimization, driving global ad revenue growth with strategic pricing and packaging, managing global publisher partnerships for ad inventory deals and delivery, and enhancing the efficiency of the ad sales organization by centralizing processes across our data tools and systems. By aligning advertising sales, marketing, product, and client services, the team aims to optimize the monetization of advertising inventory. This involves a blend of strategic planning, data analysis, system and tool utilization, and partnership management.

About the role

Roku is looking for a Director of Business Automation to join our expanding Revenue Operations team. This role will involve establishing a newly formed Business Automation team as one of the key pillars within Revenue Operations.

The Director of Business Automation will oversee the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our ad sales operations, serving as the thought leader and representative for the ad sales organization. This role demands a visionary leader with a deep understanding of business processes and automation technologies, combined with a passion for driving innovation.

Ideal candidates will have experience leading strategy and implementation within complex revenue tech stacks and growth business models. They should be proficient with CRM, OMS, ad servers, and revenue / yield tools to understand current workflows and drive future enhancements, enablement, and adoption.

Building cross-functional relationships is key to success in this role, with core stakeholders spanning Revenue, Product, Engineering, Legal, Sales Analytics, and Finance. A successful leader will take a consultative approach with internal stakeholders, effectively navigate ambiguity, and translate complex, tactical needs into executive plans. Strong communication skills with both leadership and stakeholders are crucial for success in this role.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $269,000 and $403,000 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and implement a business automation strategy aligned with company objectives. Oversee the ad sales workflow operational strategy (Order to Cash), representing Ad Sales and informing business requirements to enhance productivity.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and leverage automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Ad Product and Engineer leads to drive implementation of business priorities related to tools and systems for revenue teams, such as CRM and OMS tooling and Ad Data.
  • Develop enablement plans for internal tool usage among ad sales business stakeholders, focusing on continuous improvement, leadership, and efficiency gains year-over-year.
  • Drive increased adoption, usage, and affinity for workflows and internal technology.
  • Partner on the long-term execution of the ad stack vision for Roku Ad Sales, ensuring it meets business needs and compliance requirements.
  • Influence short-term roadmaps for tools and systems usage.
  • Act as a strategic partner and consultant, providing insights, problem-solving, and guidance to the revenue teams on workflow.
  • Develop internal narratives and executive presentations representing Ad Sales stakeholders.
  • Manage future change initiatives for ad revenue teams, aiming to minimize risk to clients and revenue while maximizing business gains.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to foster professional growth.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and departments.

We’re excited if you have

  • 15 years of experience in advertising or related fields, with a focus on Business Operations and / or Product Operations, and / or Business Enablement. Knowledge of programmatic workflow is a plus.
  • Proven leadership experience working with Product and Technology Enterprise Teams.
  • Extensive experience in business process automation, preferably within the ad sales industry.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse operational stakeholder teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of Salesforce, OMS tools, Ad Servers, Ad Data, and Billing tools.
  • Preferred : Experience directing Salesforce and / or OMS implementation and using BI tools, including prioritization and roadmap planning in partnership with Product or Engineering teams.
  • Ambitious about managing and building teams from the ground up.
  • Self-starter with expertise in managing large-scale, complex projects.
  • LI-KR3

    Benefits

Roku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families. Our comprehensive benefits include global access to mental health and financial wellness support and resources. Local benefits include statutory and voluntary benefits which may include healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), life, accident, disability, commuter, and retirement options (401(k) / pension). Our employees can take time off work for vacation and other personal reasons to balance their evolving work and life needs. It's important to note that not every benefit is available in all locations or for every role. For details specific to your location, please consult with your recruiter.

    The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
