POSITION SUMMARY :
The Certification & Licensing Division is responsible for protecting the public by assuring only qualified applicants become certified to engage in certain regulated professions. The Division is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Certification Specialist in the Attorney Admissions Unit. In this role, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for certifying and investigating applicants seeking admission on motion, admission by transfer of bar exam score, law professor certification, foreign legal consultant status, military spouse certification, and practice pending admission. The primary focus will be to assess applicants’ qualifications and adherence to the admission standards set forth by the Rules of the Supreme Court of Arizona.
Essential functions of the position include :
- Providing clear and comprehensive interpretation of admission standards, procedural processes, mandatory rules and procedures, and application status to applicants through verbal and written communication.
- Initiating, preparing, and issuing written requests, notices of deficiency, and notices of certification.
- Initiating inquires and communication with jurisdictions to verify attorney standing or examination status in accordance with Arizona rule requirements.
- Creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of eligible and certified applicants, those pending certification, and those with deficiencies and missed deadlines, providing regular updates to the Manager.
- Processing of Petitions for Review, Responses, and facilitating communications with the Clerk’s Office.
In addition to the core responsibilities, this position involves :
After an initial period of at least three months in person, this position may offer the ability to work remotely up to two days per week, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, and at least two years related experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated expertise in communicating diplomatically and effectively with diverse and often conflicting applicants, other parties, committee members, judicial officers, staff and the public. Strong research, tracking and critical analysis skills, experience and ability to handle multiple confidential and complex records. This position also requires the ability to make subjective and objective decisions, utilizing judgment and diplomacy in complex and sensitive issues, and the ability to produce precise and accurate work product in a high volume, high stress environment.
The preferred candidate will have experience and knowledge of professional licensing and document examination procedures. Case management skills and experience, some supervisory experience, and documented examination or investigation credentials or experience.
Travel level : up to 5%
