Position Summary
The Assistant Principal supports schoolwide excellence by leading student culture systems, strengthening instruction, supporting teachers, and ensuring consistent implementation of routines and expectations. The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal and leadership team to drive student achievement, build a positive and orderly learning environment, and support staff growth.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven instructional leader who can also execute strong operational and student-support systems.
Key Responsibilities
School Culture & Student Support
- Lead schoolwide culture systems (arrival/dismissal, transitions, behavior expectations, restorative practices, student incentives)
- Maintain a safe, positive, and orderly learning environment through consistent implementation of policies
- Support student attendance, tardiness, and family engagement efforts
- Coordinate student interventions and supports, including behavior plans and referral processes
- Serve as a point person for student discipline and communication with families (as assigned)
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs and formal observations; provide timely, actionable feedback
- Support grade-level teams with planning, data analysis, and instructional improvement
- Help ensure strong curriculum implementation and alignment to standards
- Support professional development and coaching cycles aligned to school goals
- Support onboarding and development of teachers and support staff
- Help build strong adult culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support teacher coverage plans and daily staffing needs as required
- Support master schedule implementation, daily operations, and schoolwide systems
- Coordinate testing logistics and compliance tasks as assigned
- Contribute to school improvement planning and progress monitoring
- Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred)
- Valid teaching certificate/licensure (as applicable)
- 3+ years of successful teaching experience; leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a strong learning culture
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Experience using student data to drive instructional decisions
- Prior experience as an Assistant Principal, Dean, Instructional Coach, or Grade-Level Lead
- Experience in elementary school leadership
- Knowledge of MTSS, restorative practices, and effective behavior systems
- Proven success supporting teachers to improve instruction and student outcomes
