This position is funded through the Early Childhood Allotment EMPLOYMENT BEGINS : As soon as possible

PRIMARY PURPOSE :

  • To achieve and maintain standards of excellence in the coaching of early literacy coaches and teachers in a manner that supports reaching the district goal of all students reading on grade level.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education / Certification :

  • Bilingual Teaching Certificate
  • Master Reading Teacher / Reading Specialist Certification (preferred)
  • Successful Completion of Reading Academy
  • SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :

  • Maintain professional competence in areas of responsibility
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Collaborate as a member of the district curriculum team
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures of the MISD
  • Exhibit highly effective organizational and consensus-building skills
  • Possess knowledge of assigned curricular content including familiarity with multiple areas of state instructional standards
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
  • Thorough understanding of multiple coaching frameworks and models
  • Ability to articulate clearly and be knowledgeable of the goals and standards of the district curriculum and initiatives
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • Successful experience as a teacher in assigned curricular area
  • Experience serving in a campus leadership role (preferred)
  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

  • Respond with initiative and innovation to the assigned curricular area needs of teachers
  • Gather, analyze, and share data with campus and district level administration as it pertains to early literacy instruction
  • Work with instructional coaches in enhancing classroom instruction through Intentional coaching of best practices In literacy instruction
  • Provide monthly professional learning for literacy coaches based on around needs identified through formal and informal data
  • Make recommendations for improvement to early literacy curriculum and instructional materials used
  • Assist campus leadership teams with overall needs of teachers
  • Assist teachers with instructional strategies through classroom modeling, collaborative planning, and follow-up conferences
  • Support teacher collaboration as it relates to early literacy instruction
  • Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting staff development workshops, training and presentations to administrators and teachers
  • Establish and maintain clear communication and collaborative relationships with administrators, instructional coaches, and teachers
  • Collaborate as a member of the district curriculum team
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of curriculum
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Intermittent walking, sitting, and standing
  • Occasional warehouse visits to inventory merchandise and occasional lifting, moving of up to 20 lbs
