Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

At adidas, we never launch a product unless we consider it perfect.

Our design teams bring together craftsmanship, innovation, and sport culture to create products that inspire athletes and consumers around the world. Every detail matters, from concept creation through final execution, and our designers play a critical role in shaping the future of sport style and performance.

The Basketball Apparel Designer will support the Basketball design team in delivering market-right apparel and graphic solutions across On-Court and Licensed product categories. This role blends apparel design, graphic execution, 3D visualization, and operational design support to help drive a fast-paced and collaborative product creation process.

This position will initially focus on executional and operational support responsibilities including toolbox management, trim submissions, artwork updates, and presentation creation. Over time, the role will evolve into ownership of select Licensed and Teamwear collections from concept through commercialization while partnering closely with cross-functional teams across design, development, and marketing.

The ideal candidate combines strong creative instincts with technical execution skills and thrives in an environment driven by collaboration, innovation, and attention to detail. A passion for basketball culture, storytelling, and product excellence will be essential to success in this role.

This limited duration position is scheduled to run through December 31, 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Apparel Design Support: Support the Basketball design team in creating apparel solutions across Basketball and Licensed product categories.

Concept Development: Build apparel design pitch decks, mood boards, material boards, and concept presentations that support seasonal storytelling and product direction.

3D Visualization: Create 3D concepts, digital assets, and virtual product visualizations using CLO 3D or similar design tools.

Graphic Execution: Create and edit graphic assets including AOPs, placed graphics, trim artwork, logo applications, and production-ready files.

Technical Design: Execute apparel designs, technical sketches, graphic placements, and visual assets aligned to adidas design standards.

Operational Support: Manage toolbox setup, file organization, trim submissions, artwork updates, and seasonal resource management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Apparel Design, Graphics, Product Marketing, Development, and Materials teams to ensure timely and accurate execution.

Tech Pack Management: Ensure proper handoff of all design assets into development including sketches, trims, fabrics, artwork, and graphic specifications.

Collection Ownership: Own select On-Court and Licensed Teamwear collections throughout the product creation process from concept through commercialization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years of experience in apparel design, graphic design, or product creation.

• Strong knowledge of apparel and graphic design principles.

• Strong understanding of AOP creation, placed graphics, trim artwork, typography, and production-ready file setup.

• Knowledge of apparel construction, product development, materials, and trims.

• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.

• High level of creativity with strong attention to detail.

• Fluent English communication skills required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience supporting both apparel and graphic design workflows.

• Experience within sportswear, teamwear, or performance product categories.

• Experience with CLO 3D, Browzwear, VStitcher, or similar 3D apparel design tools.

• Experience working within collaborative cross-functional product creation environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in Los Angeles, California and follows adidas’ hybrid work model. Teammates are expected to work in-office Monday through Thursday with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports into the Basketball Apparel Design organization and partners closely with cross-functional teams including Graphics Design, Product Marketing, Development, and Materials.
