Description

21.00 - $26.00 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavior Specialist to join our team and support the success of all students at our preschool. This role is dedicated to working hands-on with students, teachers, and families to address behavioral challenges and ensure that every child thrives in our learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education or behavior management, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for empowering students and educators alike.

Key Responsibilities :

Student Support

Work directly with students exhibiting behavioral challenges, including those with special needs, to implement individualized strategies and interventions.

Develop and monitor behavior improvement plans tailored to the unique needs of each student.

Provide ongoing support to ensure students are making progress toward behavioral and developmental goals.

Teacher Collaboration

Partner with teachers to observe classroom dynamics and provide feedback on strategies for managing challenging behaviors.

Model and coach effective behavior management techniques and interventions for teachers.

Help integrate behavioral strategies into daily classroom routines to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Parent Engagement

Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and provide guidance on extending behavior strategies to the home environment.

Conduct parent meetings and workshops to educate families on effective behavior management techniques.

Program Development and Implementation

Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide behavior management policies and practices.

Keep detailed records of observations, strategies implemented, and student progress.

Provide professional development sessions for staff on behavior management and inclusive practices.

Advocacy and Compliance

Ensure all strategies and interventions align with best practices and any applicable regulations for working with students with special needs.

Advocate for the needs of students requiring additional behavioral support to ensure equitable access to education.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Behavioral Science, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Certification in Behavior Management, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or a related discipline is highly desirable.

At least 2 years of experience working with young children in a preschool or educational setting, preferably in a behavioral support role.

Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques, child development, and special education practices.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators.

Empathy, patience, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students.

Competencies :

Child-Centered Approach : Ability to tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.

Team Collaboration : Skilled in working with teachers and parents to create cohesive strategies.

Problem-Solving : Quick to assess situations and implement effective behavioral solutions.

Organizational Skills : Capable of maintaining detailed records and managing multiple cases simultaneously.
