The Science Museum of Minnesota is currently seeking a committed, passionate Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist , who holds a belief in the ability of our scholars, to join our team. The Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist will be responsible for setting standards and laying a foundation of academic and classroom success for scholars by providing high-quality, relevant instruction to scholars and staff to promote a positive learning environment. This position provides research based targeted intervention in areas of behavior and social emotional learning.
This is a seasonal position for Summer Camp.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide classroom management and scholar redirection support and practical training to staff.
- Assist scholars, staff and all stakeholders through the application of positive behavior supports.
- Provide classroom behavior management strategies that will help scholars become successful.
- Create and led school-wide behavior management strategies that will help scholars become academically successful and support teachers classroom management
- Monitor and record data pertaining to scholars goals and objectives
- Communicates with parents, students and staff to convey pertinent information while maintaining confidentiality of personal information.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a Functional Behavior Assessment, Proactive Behavior Plans and / or Behavior Intervention Plans developed by the IEP Team
- Monitors and supervises student activities; promotes respect, supports diversity, explains social norms and disciplinary consequences, de-escalates personal confrontations
- Provides customer service to parents and guardians, answers questions, and explains school rules.
- Deliver high-quality, individualized strategies based on scholars’ needs.
- Participate in weekly meetings with grade-level staff.
- Collaborate with the leadership team , and staff as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Starting Compensation : $21.85-$24.42 per hour (depending on qualifications)
