Job Description

The (UAB) (HSOM) invites applications for an open rank / open tenure faculty position in the (BMG). Highly qualified applicants are sought who have established a robust research program in structural biology. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and to contribute to graduate and medical school teaching. The BMG department in the UAB HSOM has a long history of promoting scientific and teaching excellence.

Applications are particularly sought from investigators with expertise in structural biology and research programs focused on molecular mechanisms of cancer. We are particularly interested in candidates who complement and expand our existing research strengths in structural aspects of cell signaling, DNA synthesis and repair, transcriptional and post-transcriptional control of gene expression, chromatin, and epigenetic regulation. The Department offers a highly collaborative culture and new faculty are encouraged to participate in many strong UAB , including the ONeal Comprehensive Cancer Center; the Center for Integrative Structural Biology; the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center; the Comprehensive Diabetes Center; the Hugh Kaul Precision Medicine Center; the UAB-HudsonAlpha Center for Genomic Medicine; and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science.

The UAB Heersink SOMs main campus is in Birmingham, Alabama.
