Position Summary
The Draganova Lab in the BMB Department at WashU Medicine is seeking a Research Technician to maintain our light scattering equipment which we use to study the replication and assembly of human herpesviruses. The ideal candidate will have prior hands-on laboratory experience, as well as a working knowledge of biochemical techniques such as protein expression and protein purification.
This position requires the daily maintenance of the lab's light scattering equipment and corresponding separation modalities including field-flow fractionation and size-exclusion chromatography. The selected candidate will oversee running lab samples and data analysis as well as maintain collaborations with other labs seeking to use our equipment. The position requires excellent record keeping, attention to detail and communication skills. This is an ideal position for someone looking to gain more experience in biochemical, biophysical, and / or virological techniques in an inclusive laboratory environment.
Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
- Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
- Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
