Job Title Medical Lab Scientist Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist for a 13-week contract assignment at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. This role involves working within a fast-paced general laboratory setting, contributing to accurate and timely diagnostic testing crucial for patient care across a diverse patient population. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a comprehensive range of laboratory procedures across various disciplines, ensuring the highest standards of quality control and patient safety. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to make a significant impact in a dynamic hospital environment. Key Responsibilities Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank. Analyze, interpret, and validate test results, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment, performing troubleshooting as needed. Execute quality control procedures, document results, and take corrective action when necessary. Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls according to standard operating procedures. Maintain accurate and organized records of all tests performed, results, and quality control data. Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements. Communicate critical results promptly and effectively to appropriate healthcare personnel. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP or equivalent national certifying agency. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests across multiple disciplines (e.g., hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, blood bank). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting test results and troubleshooting equipment. Familiarity with various laboratory information systems (LIS). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Competency in operating and maintaining automated laboratory analyzers and manual testing equipment.
