Apex Systems is seeking an Observability Engineer on a contract basis. This is a fully remote role, although candidates must be local to either Austin, Texas or Phoenix, Arizona.

Position : Observability Engineer

Location : Austin, Texas OR Phoenix, Arizona

Duration : 9+ Months

Senior Observability Engineer

Senior Observability Engineer with extensive experience in implementing monitoring solutions through Splunk / Grafana / Moogsoft. In this role you will be key to shape the technical aspect of overall observability solution. You will work closely with the Grafana development team and application leadership to help define and deliver our technical strategy and Grafana enhancements.

Responsibilities

Leading the teams efforts to expand the overall Observability platform. Providing a point of escalation for teams facing complex technical challenges.

Work with various stakeholders to understand monitoring requirements and design effective monitoring strategies using Datadog. This includes defining key performance indicators (KPIs), SLAs, SLOs and configuring necessary alerts and thresholds. Seeking to improve MTTR year over year.

Experience & Education

Minimum 5 – 8 years of experience in managing monitoring services in a large-scale environment.

Hands on experience in implementing monitoring through Splunk / Moogsoft / Grafana

Strong understanding of monitoring tools, techniques, and methodologies.

Familiarity with cloud computing environments and emerging trends in the industry (including Azure and AWS).

Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with teams across multiple locations and time zones.

Technical Skills & Competencies

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules.

Demonstrated ability to define new approaches to complex design problems.

Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery teams.

Effectively communicate project status to management team on a regular basis

Have excellent problem-solving skills utilizing both internal and external resources to get the job done.

Self-starter and motivator and ability to work in team and solo.
