Job description
The Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, School of Health Sciences, High Point University is seeking an innovative, dynamic individual for a full-time Research Assistant position (40 hours per week) working on a specific research grant focused on choline kinase and obesity or choline kinase and diabetes.
RESPONSIBILITY : The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator in charge of the research grant, completing components of research project(s).
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS : The Research Assistant reports directly to the Principal Investigator in charge of the research grant.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND AUTHORITY :
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Ability to carry out cell culture under direction of Principal Investigator.
- Ability to perform western blot technique under direction of Principal Investigator.
- Ability to carry out enzymological work to identify effective choline kinase inhibitors and identify the pathways downstream of choline kinase that have a relationship with the above diseases, under direction of Principal Investigator.
- Ability to assist in the general preparation of reagents under direction of Principal Investigator.
