Job Description

About the role

The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a team of 5–8 Project Engineers supporting capital project delivery at a major pharmaceutical client site. This role provides both functional and people leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality project engineering execution across the portfolio. The Project Engineering Manager partners closely with Project Managers, Associate Project Directors, Operations, Quality, and external stakeholders to drive stakeholder satisfaction, risk mitigation, value realization, and talent development.
This position is accountable for establishing standards, processes, tools, and metrics that enable scalable and repeatable project engineering delivery while ensuring compliance with client requirements, CBRE standards, and industry best practices.

What You'll do

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5–8 Project Engineers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure consistent execution and professional development.
  • Ensure each Project Engineer maintains an active development plan with documented discussions, clear action items, and measurable progress throughout the year.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture aligned with CBRE values and client expectations.
  • Manage team workload, resource planning, and assignment of Project Engineers to projects in coordination with Project Managers and Associate Project Directors.
  • Maintain and manage the annual Project Engineering team budget for training, development, team activities, and recognition.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Project Engineering engagement, performance, and issue resolution.
  • Lead stakeholder feedback initiatives and collaborate with the capital projects team and Associate Project Directors to continuously improve Project Engineering engagement, effectiveness, and delivery.
  • Periodically meet with Associate Project Directors and Project Managers to receive, document, and act on feedback regarding Project Engineer performance and engagement.
  • Promote consistent application and sharing of Project Engineering standards, tools, and best practices to drive alignment and scalability across projects and sites.
  • Proactively identify gaps in existing documents, tools, templates, and standards and develop new materials aligned with client policies, procedures, and industry norms.
  • Partner with Project Managers to determine when Project Engineer support is required and ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Establish and maintain a centralized repository of historical Project Engineering data to support reporting, benchmarking, and continuous improvement.
  • Track, document, and report project engineering value delivered, including cost avoidance, schedule improvements, quality enhancements, and risk reduction.
  • Promote consistent, productive, and respectful communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical and leadership resource to Project Engineers and project teams during problem-solving, risk mitigation, and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of engineering or capital project experience, preferably within a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Prior people leadership or functional management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, qualification, and change control processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing metrics, tracking value, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage diverse stakeholder groups.
