Job Description
SUMMARY
The Commercial Loan Review Officer III role at First United Bank focuses on assessing credit risk within the commercial and commercial real estate loan portfolios through ongoing review of loan relationships. The role affords a high level of visibility to senior credit officials, regional credit officers, and executive management. This is due to the unique opportunity for the individual to present review findings in exit meetings and other related forums. The right candidate will also utilize their experience and skills set to work cross departmentally on collaborative credit-risk related projects and serve as a trusted mentor to junior team members, credit analysts, and loan officers across the organization. It offers potential to lead reviews and develop into a senior loan review manager position, as well as other opportunities outside of loan review as the organization continues its rapid growth trajectory.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Determines the adequacy of credit underwriting and loan administration, as well as the accuracy of risk grades, for loans selected as part of targeted, risk-focused reviews.
Determines the sufficiency of credit and collateral documentation (including proper lien perfection), adherence to regulatory requirements and loan policy (including approval authorities), and compliance with loan agreement covenants.
Analyzes financial statements, calculates relevant ratios, and assesses risk.
Prepares detailed written reports which include an analysis of the borrower and note history, repayment capacity, financial trends, collateral support, documentation exceptions, and an overall summary of findings supported by strengths and weaknesses.
Presents findings, along with other team members, to a panel of senior management.
Maintains all department communication to internal and external stakeholders in a constructive, professional, and positive manner.
Serves as a resource to loan officers, credit analysts, and other employees regarding loan policy and regulatory credit guidelines.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as required by the Director of Loan Review, Chief Risk Officer, and CEO.
Completes all required compliance courses and exams on a yearly basis.
Adheres to all bank Policies and Procedures, including confidentiality guidelines

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Ten plus years of progressive experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, regulatory, or other equivalent banking experience. Both Commercial and Consumer loan experience is preferred.
Some management or supervisory experience is preferred.
TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; advanced in Excel. Experience with data visualization software (such as Power BI), SQL or other programming languages, and/or AI is preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable in delivering findings. Able to present complex and sensitive information in a group setting in a professional manner.
Interpersonal skills: Able to work well with a wide range of people/personalities.
Well-developed analytical abilities and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work independently.
Reliable/dependable via punctuality, attendance, and adherence to project timelines and meetings.
Possesses a full understanding of loan operations processes, commercial credit underwriting and monitoring functions, lending policies/regulations, title insurance, credit and collateral loan documentation, credit/financial analysis techniques, and risk identification.
Ability to make appropriate, independent judgments that align with bank policy and procedures.
