Job Description
Job Description
Description :
Could you use extra income? If so, we want you! Join our database of gig workers that assist utility companies in restoring power to communities affected by storms. When a storm approaches the area, you will be polled to see if you are available to work the storm. No commitment on your part is required to respond to a storm if you have other plans. Once the storm passes and outages are reported, you may be activated if damage is caused by the storm.
In return, you will be compensated $35 per hour including the time it takes to travel to and from the assignment. You will also be reimbursed for mileage using current IRS mileage reimbursement rates. If your stay is extended beyond 8 hours, you will receive $150 per diem. You can expect to be active for 10-30 days in a year, depending on the number and severity of storms.
- You will be assigned to an area not more than 100 miles from your home zip code
- You will watch a brief safety video to make sure you avoid hazardous situations and keep yourself safe
- You will safely drive to a staging area or spot designated by the utility company
- You will take high-definition photos of storm damage suspected of causing power outages using your smart phone and transmit the images to the utility company’s command center
- You will wait at the scene in your car to guard the area from potential hazards and keep pedestrians out of harm’s way until crews arrive to restore power. This could take several hours to several days depending on the severity of the damage
If interested, register using the QR Code and watch a short video to give you a realistic job preview of what to expect. It’s that easy.
