A large healthcare laboratory services organization is seeking an experienced Division Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations across multiple hospitals within the division.
This leadership role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and consulting support to ensure laboratories deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective diagnostic services.
The Division Laboratory Director collaborates closely with hospital executives, laboratory leaders, and healthcare system leadership to improve laboratory performance, regulatory compliance, and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership-
Direct laboratory service operations across multiple hospitals within the division.

Coordinate with service line leadership to provide operational assessments and consulting support.

Manage multiple laboratory initiatives and engagements simultaneously.

Implement laboratory service strategies and operational improvements.

Conduct operational assessments including:

Process improvement evaluations
-
Utilization analysis
-
Operating model implementation
-
Gap analysis (current vs. future state)
-
Financial and budgeting reviews
-
Billing and revenue performance analysis

Ensure laboratory services operate efficiently, effectively, and cost-effectively.
Work closely with:

Division leadership teams

Hospital CEOs and CFOs

Pathology medical directors
-
Laboratory leadership teams

Supply chain departments

Information technology teams

Performance improvement and quality teams
-
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Maintain readiness for laboratory accreditation inspections and audits.

Ensure compliance with billing practices, charge capture, and laboratory utilization standards.

Monitor laboratory financial performance against budget targets.

Identify causes of financial variance and implement corrective strategies.

Evaluate client outreach business performance and profitability.

Ensure appropriate vendor selection, contracting, and compliance.

Lead and mentor laboratory directors and leadership teams.

Implement staff development, training, and leadership programs.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
