Job Description :
The Director, Grants leads the Pre and Post Grant Award process of the Moses Weitzman Health System, partnering with MWHS experts in development and philanthropy along with experts in clinical, programmatic, operational and research domains. The Director, Grants leads diverse teams focused on proposal development, pre and post award planning and monitoring, and strict financial accountability across a very broad portfolio spanning public and private grant-makers. The Director, Grants works closely with the MWHS’ lead experts in strategic development in both the private and public sectors and supports their external development initiatives as well as the development of successful proposals initiative by internal research, programmatic, and clinical experts. The MWHS is the country’s first primary care health system and was built on the foundational principle that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. It is home to a nationally recognized research, education and policy institute, (Weitzman Institute) and is the parent company of its founding member, the Community Health Center, Inc. (CHCI) as well as three other non-profit organizations the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement, ConferMED, and the Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers. The Director, Grants will have an outstanding track record as a senior leader across all elements of pre-and post-award grants management and significant experience working with research, programmatic and clinical experts in supporting their respective areas of research and practice.
This individual is a leader in the organization, and as such plays a critical role in the current and future success or the organization.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In coordination with the Chief Government and Public Sector Grants Officer and VP, Development, has responsibility for all activities necessary to generate, sustain and increase grant funding of the organization, and thus its ability to advance its work as America’s first primary care health system, and achieve its strategic goals for healthcare quality, access and innovation, particularly for communities and population in need, while contributing to large scale improvements in the health of people and communities through research, training, education, and service..
- Continuous oversight and further development and implementation of rigorous standards, policies and procedures to ensure successful achievement of programmatic and research goals, and full compliance with federal and state law and accounting principles.
- Outstanding writing, technical financial, and analytic skills are required, with the ability to take the lead on developing complex proposals as necessary and in collaboration with other grant team members, principal investigators, and program leaders.
- Responsible for the leadership, coaching, and supervision of a diverse team of grant professionals dedicated to the goals and expectations of the department and the organization.
- Collaborates closely executive and senior leadership team members of MWHS and its affiliates to identify new opportunities as well as create and advance opportunities for grant-funded impact.
- Maintains responsibility for monitoring, compliance and reporting requirements of all existing local, state, federal, corporate and foundation grants active as of current fiscal year.
- Support of direct reports in the production and submission of all final grant applications.
- Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of the Grants Management System and ensure that appropriate documents and agreements are created and maintained
- Initiates, develops and maintains positive professional relationships with local, state, federal,, corporate and other current and potential funders.
