(FNI) is currently searching for an experienced groundwater professional to serve as a Technical Leader / Manager for FNI’s developing Groundwater Services Business. The preferred candidate will have progressive and documented experience leading moderate to complex groundwater projects for a diverse client base, design oversight of various experience level staff, and coordination with other technical disciplines involved in the planning, design, and construction of groundwater supply development projects. Documented experience with groundwater planning and management districts, municipalities, water utilities, private industry, and other water supply entities which includes client coordination, analysis, report preparation, public meetings, and development of planning studies and standard and non-standard construction documents is required.
The preferred candidate will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and preparation of construction documents related to complex groundwater projects including groundwater well field development and design, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), brackish groundwater supply development, injection well planning and design, and regional groundwater modeling including MODFLOW and associated software(s). Direct experience with the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Groundwater Availability Models (GAMs) is highly valued. Preferred applicants will be actively involved in projects greater than 50% of their time, have strong communication skills and functional management abilities, and will be required and able to teach, coach and mentor less experienced engineers.
The preferred candidate should have experience in managing all ranges of project size, preparing and maintaining project schedules, tracking project financials, preparing status reports and invoicing. Candidate will work independently as well as oversee the work of teams of professionals and technicians. Knowledge and experience with well construction means and methods, local aquifer properties, aquifer testing methods and analysis, analytical and numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling, geochemical modeling, and corrosion analysis is preferred. The position includes a high degree of client interaction and a commitment to client service. The role also encompasses business development activities, including proposal preparation and marketing activities.
Assist in the development and execution of FNI’s Groundwater Services Business Plan, including development of client relationships and opportunities related to groundwater services.Analyze groundwater resources as water supply alternatives in planning for our clients. This includes the development of groundwater models and the use of existing models.Serve as a strategic partner to clients in the development of new groundwater supplies, including well fields, ASR, and brackish groundwater development.Lead the development of groundwater planning studies, feasibility studies, design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.Serve as Project Manager / Program Manager / Engineer of Record / Lead Scientist to lead the planning, design, and construction of groundwater supply projects.Provide permitting and design services in the development of new groundwater supplies, including well fields, ASR, and brackish groundwater development.Provide program management and coordination with related design services (water transmission, water treatment) in the development of new groundwater supplies, including well fields, ASR, and brackish groundwater development.Provide operational analysis and advice on existing groundwater supplies.Conduct water quality analysis for groundwater supplies.Lead multi-disciplined teams consisting of both engineers and scientists during planning, design, and construction of complex groundwater supply development projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience – 10+ years of progressive work experience in the planning, design, and construction of groundwater supply development projects
Minimum Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or comparable engineering degree), Geoscience, or Geology
Minimum Certifications – Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist in Texas, or the ability to obtain professional licensure in 6 months
Qualified candidates will have strong technical, production design, writing, and teamwork skills, as well as project and team management experience.
Must have strong technical writing and project management skills.
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and multi-task, lead junior staff and work with a project team to completion of a task.
Familiarity and experience with TCEQ well permitting for groundwater supply projects including aquifer storage and recovery, brackish supply development, and injection well permitting.
