Since 2011, we’ve built genuine relationships with high profile clients based on respect, trust, and results. We foster a diverse and inclusive culture that values people - providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive professionally, exceed client expectations, and be themselves at work.
Business Development at Detroit Labs
Our digital innovation expertise and services cover a wide array of needs. We ideate, validate, and create through strategic exercises like design sprints, early stage consulting, cloud / architecture solutions, large scale web and mobile apps, and even staffing. Our Business Development Managers do the research and build strong client relationships to understand how to bring the most value and customized solutions to accelerate clients’ current and future needs.
About the Business Development Manager
As a Business Development Manager at Detroit Labs, your primary responsibility will be to prospect and acquire new clients, driving sales of our services and products. Your role encompasses various facets of revenue generation, with a strong emphasis on outbound and inbound sales activities. Collaborating closely with other teams within Detroit Labs, you'll devise effective delivery strategies tailored to client needs.
Creativity will be key in working with internal teams to craft custom software solutions that ensure alignment with client requirements. Cultivating and nurturing positive relationships with client partners and decision-makers, particularly at decision-making levels, will be crucial. Expectations include travel and in-person meetings to cultivate and strengthen client relationships, expand networks, and deliver sales presentations and proposals.
Collaborating with sales colleagues and leaders, you'll strategize on contracts and deals for new business ventures. Your role will necessitate collaboration with sales, marketing, account, and client delivery teams to develop innovative solutions and compelling proposals, ultimately driving positive outcomes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of sales experience selling strategy, consulting, and digital solutions in the custom software space
- Possess a “hunter” mindset, adept at cultivating a dynamic sales pipeline and acquiring new business through a range of outreach campaigns and strategic approaches such as phone calls, video messages, email, handwritten notes, in person meetings, etc.
- Possesses a demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or surpassing sales quotas, with expertise in selling substantial, multi-year digital products across varying sales cycles, both long and short term
- Able to sell the first project to a brand new client relationship, ability to navigate client challenges and objections, and work creatively to provide appropriate solutions
- Accomplished at building relationships with C-level executives and decision makers
- Experience working collaboratively with delivery teams to create contracts, proposals, pitch decks, and sales collateral
- Excellent presentation and communication skills across large and small audiences, and across different corporate audiences. Skilled at presenting to C-level executives and decision makers. Able to adapt pitches to different audiences using storytelling, data, and value-based selling
- Experience working with and following new and existing sales processes
- Experience and strong organizational and documenting skills working with CRMs
