Job Summary
The Model Maker sets up, programs and operates machines, such as : CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, drill presses, and band saws, to fabricate prototype parts, assemblies and models. Receives direction from R&D Engineers to create, design and construct tools and parts from a variety of materials such as metal, plastic and composites. As more experience is gained and proficiency demonstrated, the Model Maker has the opportunity to work on more complex tasks.
Responsibilities :
- Create models from CAD part files and drawings.
- Create, design and construct component models or parts in a variety of materials such as metals, plastics and composites.
- Cut, shape and form metal parts using CNC mills, CNC lathes, power saws, brakes, shears and assorted hand tools.
- Machine, grind, file, and sand parts to finished dimensions.
- Study part files, drawings, and sketches to determine material dimensions for laying out materials and planning part fabrication
- Rework or alter model components or parts as required to ensure performance of equipment or that parts meet specifications.
- Use precision measuring tools for inspecting fabricated parts to ensure specifications are met.
- Fabricate prototype devices, test fixtures, and tooling from verbal and / or written specifications.
- Receive direction from engineering personnel and offer Design for Manufacturing (DFM) suggestions.
- Properly conduct safety inspections of the machines and equipment to ensure proper working conditions. Document the inspections and keep records.
- Operate machine and tools to create and cut parts according to established specifications.
- Maintain accurate records / documentation related to quality, work in process, test results, measurements, labor and special projects.
- Perform maintenance of model making machinery and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
Qualifications & Requirements :
Payscale : $28.84 / hr - $36.54 / hr DOE + potential annual bonus + comprehensive benefits package
