Schedules, coordinates, and participates in a wide variety of food preparation and service, food safety, distribution, accountability and related tasks in compliance with federal school meal regulations. This job is performed in small to medium cafeteria operations and involves supervising personnel in cooking, preparing, and serving food as well as cleaning food service areas.
Essential Functions
- Assigns tasks and supervises the preparation and serving of foods in large quantities; participates in work as necessary.
- Required to float from school to school.
- Instructs personnel in proper food preparation, service and safety procedures, proper implementation of federal school meal regulations, and the correct use and care of equipment.
- Reviews and approves work; disciplines staff as necessary.
- Maintains safety standards and sanitary procedures in compliance with Health Department regulations.
- Purchases meat, milk, bread and vegetables and other supplies in accordance with estimated needs; receives and accounts for supplies.
- Functions as cashier; receives and counts money and prepares deposits.
- Operates computerized food services accounting system.
- Completes and maintains financial, personnel, and other records and reports as required.
- Ensures school meals are prepared, served, documented, and claimed for reimbursement in compliance with federal school meal regulations.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws; school board policies and the professional standards.
