Emergency Medicine Physician Position Qualification / Requirements :
Degree : Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
Education : Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Position Qualification / Requirements :
Experience : Possess a minimum experience of 3 years within the past 4 years as a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician.
Certification : The HCWs must maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Board Certification : Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) with the completion of an HT941024F0183 Page 25 of 106 emergency medicine residencies. The physician must have experience in a hospital emergency medical department that experienced a volume of no less than 30,000 visits per year.

Specific Duties :
Duties Specific - MD Emergency Medicine Physician (Coverage). The HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the commanding officer, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following :
Perform the evaluation, admission, diagnosis, treatment, disposition, and management of emergency medicine patients at NHCP.
Provide prompt subspecialty or other specialty referral and consultation assistance to other specialty services in the hospital.
Provide teaching and supportive services to medical students, interns, Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellows and / or residents.
Respond to all codes and render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize patients in cases of serious illness or injury.
Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's primary physician, or consultant, for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions.
Interpret results of diagnostic studies and determine appropriate treatment regimens according to established standards, guidelines and protocols.
Conduct patient education with an emphasis on prevention of illness / injury.
Contact medical personnel to obtain and provide substantive confidential, medical information within limits of legal restraint and provide recommendations and advice to management regarding the medical conditions of specific employees.
Comply and understand NHCP Emergency Medicine Department Standard Operating Procedures and meet National HEDIS Measures for practice in treating Low Back Pain, Pediatric URI, and Pediatric Pharyngitis.
