Job descriptionHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous related experience desired. Must have a current NM driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must be adept at both oral and written communication techniques and maintain effective working relationships with a range of audiences, from customers, prospective customers, vendors, owners, other staff members, and the public at large. Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing; develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, all members of the Galles team. Previous experience working in car dealership settings. Bilingual, English / Spanish. Consistent sitting for many hours at one time. Majority of day (65%+) is spent standing / moving. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive oral and written information and to prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity is required for regular and consistent use of tools and other shop equipment. Ability to climb stairs on occasion. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. May be expected to drive a company or personal vehicle, as a normal course of job performance. Must be insurable through MVD. This is a ‘safety sensitive’ position in which performance by a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol would constitute an immediate or direct threat of injury or death to that person or another. As such, employees in this role are subject to random drug screening. Additional challenges may arise, at which time Galles may revise this job description. Role Summary :
Under the supervision of the Service Manager, Inspects and services used vehicles when they are delivered to the dealer and makes minor repairs or adjustments to ensure the salable condition of the vehicles. Additional duties may be assigned based on the needs of the company.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Essential job functions do not require exercising independent judgment.
Principal Accountabilities :
- Examine and diagnose vehicles
- Discuss repairs with shop foreman or service advisor
- Plan work in cooperation with shop foreman
- Monitor repair time and update service advisor
- Maintain strict adherence to dealership policies on vehicle care and operation
- Complete story and / or documentation for client repairs
- Keep current with factory technical bulletins
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations (such as disposal of hazardous waste)
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical / electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Maintain a cooperative manner with other employees
- Any other duties as assigned by management
- Employee must clock in at the beginning of each shift and clock out at the end of each shift. Any overtime must be approved by direct supervisor.
