General Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in various inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), echocardiograms, and stress tests.
- Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans for various cardiovascular conditions.
- Perform cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (depending on the cardiologist's subspecialty).
- Educate and counsel patients on heart disease prevention, risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals (nurses, surgeons, specialists) to ensure coordinated patient care.

- In-depth knowledge of cardiology principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease.

- Technical proficiency in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (if applicable).
- Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Minimum Education Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Fellowship training in cardiology (may be preferred depending on the position).
License & Certifications:
- Board certification in cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Arizona
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum cardiologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing cardiac care in a clinical setting.
