Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment to the Carpenter I position. This vacancy exists in the Facility Operations Department and is under the direction of Facilities Management. Carpenters shall be responsible for carpentry duties hospital wide.
A successful incumbent will have knowledge and experience including, but not limited to, estimating labor and material costs; keeping simple records and reports, maintaining accurate record keeping; instructing and leading unskilled assistants; knowledgeable of principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the carpentry industry; maintaining and adhering to tool control policy and procedures; reading blueprints, working from plans and specifications; adhering to all safety and security policies and procedures; and knowledgeable of building, construction and safety codes applicable to the carpentry industry.
Additional requirements include ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, good interpersonal skills, dependable, able to follow directions and complete assigned tasks, ability to work well with others and promote and maintain positive and effective work relationships; completion of Carpenter Apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
