ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION :
Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers has an opening for a part-time, 20 hours / week, Cashier.
SCHEDULE : Must be willing to work Monday, Wednesday, Friday and weekends with occasional overtime as needed.
JOB SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Retail Team Manager and Assistant Retail Manager, is responsible for customer service, greeting and assisting customers. Operates the cash register, bagging and wrapping merchandise after processing sales and ensures the cash wrap area is clean. Assists with facility security and maintenance. Assists with displaying merchandise, stocking shelves and rotating merchandise.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Operates cash register to insure accurate and efficient sales data, price and information codes on merchandise.
- Performs cash, check, credit and tax exempt sales per standard operating policy and procedures.
- Completes void, credit exchange, refund and team member discount sales per standard operating policy and procedures.
- Greet customers in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner assisting them with price information, location of merchandise, information on merchandise and resolves customer complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintains cash wrap, check out and display areas in a neat and clean condition at all times.
- Maintains store security (i.e. relating to theft or pilferage, handling of cash receipts and deposits, access to facility etc.) according to Agency and store policies and procedures.
- Performs tape changes for register, credit card machine and may perform "X" readings, as well as credit card summaries / deposits.
- Assists with sales / promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, read-a-boards etc.
- Places saleable merchandise in display / boutique areas as assigned.
- Arranges merchandise on a regular basis in order to maximize display and exposure of merchandise, straightens merchandise on racks and shelves, check dressing room / display areas "as needed" in order to maintain an "A+" image.
- Will comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct and report any noncompliance to the appropriate official.
- Will attend all required training and complete other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of High School Diploma / GED required with less than two years of related experience. If have two or more years of related experience, education requirement may be waived.
Minimum of one year cashiering experience required. Additional experience in a retail setting may be substituted for six (6) months cashiering experience.
Able to reference materials, obtain information and / or perform intermediate mathematics. Able to operate various standard office machines.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Good skills and demonstrated abilities in communication - oral and written, coordination / cooperation, follow through, interpersonal relations, attention-to-detail, use of basic math and language, following verbal / written instructions, recording information - oral and / or written, public relations - internal / external, self-management, working independently, planning, problem solving, negotiating, adapting to change, decision making, organizing work, computer skills and such others that are usually and customarily considered necessary for satisfactory completion of essential duties.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND WORK CONDITIONS :
Must comply with all work rules including but not limited to attendance. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of worker or others.
Both indoor (office) and outdoor work. May be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions which may include, but not limited to, fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, uncomfortable heat, variable temperatures, vibrations, uncomfortable noise, etc. Potential hazards may include mechanical, electrical, chemical, and physical. Overtime and on-call duty may be required. On occasion may be required to travel to training and other activities, handling confidential information, working under tight time constraints.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Exerting over 80 pounds of force frequently in pushing and pulling; lifting objects of 50 pounds, carrying objects frequently over 80 pounds. Physical activities including, but not limited to climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching - above and / or below waist, sitting, standing, walking, fingering, feeling, talking, seeing, hearing, handling, driving, etc. at varying frequency and intensity may be required to satisfactorily perform one or more of essential duties.
WORK MATERIALS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT :
May include, but may not be limited to, driving own automobile, cash register, telephone, pager, word processor / computer, standard office and retail store equipment / materials.
May include, but may not be limited to weight (lifting) belt, protective goggles and / or gloves, vehicle seat belt, etc.. Special or unusual circumstances may require use of emergency safety equipment including, but not necessarily limited to, fire extinguisher, first aid equipment and materials, etc..
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends with occasional overtime as needed.
Must pass a level II background check and drug screen.
Must have a valid driver's license.
