Description : Position Summary :
Seeking a highly detailed, analytical, and growth-oriented individual for the Buyer position here at our busy manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters. The position is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, purchased parts, and assists in management of vendors assuring the availability of materials that meet quality specifications and provide the lowest total cost of ownership and execution. This position will work closely with the Operations Team including the schedular and receiving team to ensure timing of customer jobs.
Essential Job Functions :
- Source and evaluate suppliers for material and services necessary for metal fabrication operations.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements while maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholder departments including planning, production, engineering, and project management to understand material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier optimization.
- Manage relationships with existing suppliers, resolve issues, and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality expectations.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of materials, accurate inventory management, and efficient utilization of storage space.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and reports including purchase orders, invoices, and inventory levels.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
Requirements :
Education : High School Education; post-secondary education / bachelor’s degree or experience a plus.
Experience :
Computer / Software and Office Equipment Skills : Proficiency with MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and proficient in the use of ERP and / or Scheduling technologies.
