Responsibilities
Processes sterile surgical instrument trays for the operating room and other ancillary areas. Collects, cleans, disinfects, inspects, and sterilizes surgical instrument trays and other medical equipment. Maintain inventory and assist with ordering supplies. Track surgical instrument trays and mobile patient equipment through all phases of the cleaning and sterilization process by utilizing established manual systems. Reprocesses surgical instruments, operates the sterilization and decontamination equipment and performs routine efficacy tests on equipment
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalence. Certification in Central Sterile is required from one of the accrediting agencies : CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician-IAHCSMM) or CSPDT (Central Sterile Processing Distribution Technician - CBSPD) Employee should have general learning ability, verbal understanding of English language and ability to communicate effectively. Form perception, ability to perceive and comprehend computer printouts.
