MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Completes comprehensive chemical use evaluations and assessments on adolescents referred or selected in relation to their use of alcohol or other drugs.
Conducts mental health assessments with youth referred by courts for comprehensive evaluations including family assessments, psychosocial histories, records review and summary, and drug and alcohol evaluations.
Reports assessment results in appropriate manner for inclusion into the final report disseminated to family and / or other team members who may include social workers, care coordinators, and other court appointed designees.
Provides counseling, support, intervention, and referral services to adolescents and their families.
Serves as the primary therapist for facilitation of individual and / or family psychotherapy services, individualized to the presenting client and with completion of goals that are aligned with diagnosis and which meet clinical criteria for such treatment services utilized.
Serves as the primary group leader for chemical use group(s) and determines appropriate curricula for each selected adolescent including individualizing treatment plans based on needs regarding drug-using and / or mental health and associated behaviors.
Serves as a multidisciplinary team member for adolescents assigned to the program.
Attends meetings providing updates on youth progress in drug treatment and recommendations.
Works collaboratively with all other direct care providers and treatment team members to reinforce behavioral standards and program components.
Formulates and designs programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug use that are based on empirically supported treatment principles.
Provides the surrounding community and additional collaborative contacts with information and education about adolescent drug and alcohol use, outward trends, potential family issues, intervention techniques, and other related topics.
Engages in ongoing supervision and training to ensure specific and broad based competence and credentialing.
Participates in consultation and supervision sessions as arranged by the supervising practitioner.
Provides supervision to practicum students who are assigned for clinical supervision and conducts performance reviews as appropriate.
Collects statistics and implements Continual Quality Improvement procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Understanding and practice of cognitive behavioral therapy along with skill set in motivational interviewing.
Understanding of the group dynamic and peer culture within a group setting, along with the breadth of child welfare issues and services within the system.
Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and with external contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
Skills in diagnoses, treatment, and service planning and ability to apply psychological principles and therapeutic intervention.
Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adolescents and families required.
Licensed mental health practitioner in the state of Nebraska (LMHP) required.
Licensed or provisionally licensed alcohol and drug counselor in the state of Nebraska (LADC or PLADC) or willingness to attain provisional status within 12 months of employment required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed independent mental health practitioner (LIMHP) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.
Registered Provider Status in the State of Nebraska preferred.
