Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Contract Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and transform the technology strategy of our growing retail chain. This high-impact role will require a leader who can balance technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong interpersonal skills to address current pain points, streamline operations, and drive future growth. Responsibilities :

Ecommerce Strategy Execution

  • Evaluate and enhance the existing B2C ecommerce platform while exploring a B2B element.
  • Lead an evaluation of whether to enable online ordering for contractors, identifying necessary functionality, costs and potential benefits.
  • Provide a recommendation about how to pursue our ecommerce avenue based on feasibility and ROI.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the online shopping experience for customers and contractors.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand digital capabilities, including mobile applications and customer loyalty programs.
  • Operational and Process Efficiency

  • Streamline the process for responding to work orders, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to use technology to increase operational efficiency and productivity across the organization.
  • Manage and optimize retail systems, including point-of-sale (POS), inventory management, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Lead efforts to resolve technical challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
  • Strategic Leadership and Professionalism

  • Assess and optimize the current organizational technology structure and processes.
  • Define and communicate a clear vision for the brand's technology future.
  • Act as a mentor and guide for the technology team, addressing issues with professionalism and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Align technology goals with broader business objectives, ensuring the team operates as a cohesive and impactful unit.
  • Microsoft D365 Backlog Management

  • Analyze and resolve a backlog of 50+ open tickets in Microsoft D365 to build user confidence.
  • Collaborate with Operations to prioritize tickets based on business impact.
  • Develop and implement a structured methodology to respond to and resolve open tickets efficiently.
  • Ensure clear communication to stakeholders about ticket resolution progress and outcomes.
  • Technology Team Leadership and Structure

  • Provide leadership to three Technology Managers and support their development.
  • Design and implement a structure for weekly technology team meetings, including key discussion topics :
  • Ticket resolution updates.
  • Project status and priorities.
  • Cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Training and upskilling opportunities.
  • Performance metrics and efficiency improvements.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional environment within the technology team.
  • New Store Launch Technology Strategy

  • Identify and implement technology solutions to enhance customer experience for a new store opening.
  • Leverage existing and emerging technologies to support store operations, customer engagement, and brand alignment.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience in a CIO, IT Director, or similar leadership role, preferably within the retail industry.
  • Expertise in Microsoft D365, with a track record of resolving system challenges and optimizing user experiences.
  • Strong understanding of retail technology systems (POS, ERP, inventory management).
  • Experience in eCommerce platform development, implementation and management, including both B2C and B2B models.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic leadership
