We are partnering with a growing regional healthcare system in the Newark, NJ region to recruit a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead HR strategy and operations across multiple hospitals.
About the Role :
The CHRO is a critical executive leader , responsible for developing and executing HR strategy to support the system’s business plan. This role requires a seasoned leader (10+ years in senior HR leadership) capable of navigating complex operations and multiple union environments. The CHRO will lead all HR functions, with a strong focus on labor relations, union contract negotiations, and compliant, innovative HR practice
Responsibilities include :
System-level leadership of all HR functions
Partnering with executive and hospital leadership
Designing and scaling the HR organizational structure
Supporting workforce integration across facilities
Ideal background :
Senior HR leadership experience within hospital or healthcare systems
Strong operational and administrative expertise
Familiarity with New Jersey healthcare preferred (or willingness to relocate)
Requirements :
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree (MBA, MHR) is highly preferred.
- Certification ( Required ) : Current certification as either Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
- Direct experience within a Hospital System, but candidates from large, multi-faceted healthcare organizations will be considered.
Labor Relations : Non-negotiable, documented experience leading contract negotiations and managing ongoing relationships with multiple unions concurrently
