Qualifications

• Must be available 24 hours per day when on call
• Must be able to provide proof of rabies vaccinations
• Must live within 10 miles of Westport, MA
• Must have a background in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary care, or animal law enforcement
• Familiarity with animal behavior and control laws
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in report preparation
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Ability to work in various environments, confined spaces and various weather conditions
• Catching and transporting deceased animals, and strays to veterinary offices for euthanasia
• Ability to work independently and build positive relationships with the public and veterinary community
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and traumatic situations involving harmed or distressed animals with integrity, compassion, and professionalism
• Cleaning and disinfecting Animal Control vehicles
• Cleaning and maintaining the Animal Control Facility, including runs and cages
• Educating the public on the welfare of pets and importance of canine licenses

Schedule:

• Part-time with the possibility of overnights as needed
• On call (7 days over 2 weeks)
• Week 1: On call for 2 days; Week 2: On call for 5 days
• No more than 20 hours per week

Pay:

• $70 per day for each day on call even if not needed!
• If you are called in, you are paid $24 per call + $70 for the day
