Creighton University, a premier Jesuit Catholic institution ranked among the nation's top universities, seeks an experienced strategic leader to serve as Executive Director of Internal Audit. This key leadership role reports administratively to the Executive Vice President and functionally to the Board of Trustees' Risk Management, Audit and Compliance Subcommittee.

The Opportunity : Lead comprehensive internal audit services across the Creighton enterprise spanning education, healthcare, research, and auxiliary operations. Based in Omaha with oversight extending to our Phoenix health sciences campus, you'll provide strategic vision for risk management, internal controls, and governance processes while serving as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership and the Board.

The Executive Director leads the Internal Audit Department and will bring a strong collaborative orientation and strategic vision for the successful oversight of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes that support Creighton's mission. The Executive Director will oversee the delivery of independent assurance and consulting services, maintain professional audit standards, ensure comprehensive risk coverage, create and capitalize on operational efficiencies, and collaboratively support institutional accountability and continuous improvement. Working in collaboration with executive leadership, the Board of Trustees, external auditors, and operational management, the Executive Director will address the following key opportunities and challenges :

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and execute a comprehensive risk-based audit strategy aligned with institutional objectives
• Optimize audit methodologies to enhance institutional effectiveness while maintaining independence and objectivity
• Develop annual and long-range audit planning and ongoing communication with senior leadership and the Board of Trustees regarding institutional risks and audit outcomes.
• Enhance enterprise governance frameworks and compliance oversight across all university operations
• Lead a team of three professional audit staff with expertise in general auditing, IT auditing, and data analytics
• Modernize audit methodologies through data analytics and continuous monitoring technologies
