The Assistant Vice President & Chief of Staff (AVP / COS) reports directly to, and works in close partnership with, the Vice President for Student Development (Vice President). This position serves a vital role in supporting the efficient and effective operations of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Division of Student Development with the responsibilities of chief of staff for the Vice President. The AVP / COS advises the Vice President on policy, procedural, and operational issues. The AVP / COS plans, coordinates, and executes strategic internal and external communication and oversees assessment and planning for the Division. Additionally, the AVP / COS serves as a liaison between divisional leaders and other senior university administrators, key campus partners and officials, and external constituents.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Directs strategy and communication, including internal and external messaging
- Oversees divisional strategic planning, including the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of strategic initiatives and priorities
- Oversees the development and ongoing review of divisional policies and procedures
- Plans and administers the external program review process for SD departments / units
- With the Vice President and the central OVP team, organizes the agenda, priorities, and action items for the Student Development Leadership Team (SDLT)
- Centralizes and coordinates university efforts to support and enhance parent and family engagement
- Coordinates divisional meetings and workshops and provides oversight of and administrative support to SD committees, working groups, and collaboratives
- Serves as divisional liaison to key campus partners, including Alumni and Advancement, Inclusion and Belonging, Institutional Effectiveness (IFX), Planning and Policy, Provost's Office, and University Communications
- Conducts research, sources data, and maps processes to advance and implement key divisional priorities using data-informed practices
- Manages activities, events, projects, and schedules among key university partners, including the Offices of the President, the Provost, and the Vice President (SD)
- Serves on divisional and University committees, working groups, and task forces to advance divisional goals and priorities

Salary : Exempt Grade 10 ($88,109 to $154,211)
Scheduled Hours : Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 am to 5 pm, 38.75 hours per week
