As a Chief of Staff you will oversee the complex administrative responsibilities of the office serve as an expert consultant on broad projects and programs and provide advice and guidance to senior management on sensitive issues.

Duties

  • Organizational Location : This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services within the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity and are assigned based on the need of the agency.
  • Directs the strategic and administrative responsibilities of the offices administrative programs including finance human capital communications training logistics and emergency management.
  • Serves as an expert advisor on administrative programs of significant impact to the office. Maintains sufficient knowledge of related laws regulations and policies to apply new theories and developments to situations.
  • Evaluates and recommends long-range plans and objectives for supporting the offices operations which can serve as the basis for substantial changes in the office.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders on administrative programs.
  • Leads special studies and initiatives that impact office personnel and programs.

    Qualifications

    The qualifications for this position must be met by 11 : 59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02 / 06 / 2026.

    Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11 : 59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02 / 06 / 2026.

  • Managing multiple administrative programs for an office to include budget formulation and execution human capital planning and workforce management programs.
  • Providing expert guidance to senior management officials on the resolution of extremely sensitive and complicated issues.
  • Planning organizing and completing analytical studies related to key organizational programs.
  • Writing reports or other working documents that provide authoritative guidance on complex program issues.
  • Adjusting administrative program operations to meet changing priorities within available resources.
