The Chief Equity Officer (CEqO) is a leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director. The Chief Equity Officer serves as a member of the Management Leadership Team, partnering with other senior leaders to develop and drive forward the key strategies of the organization. The Chief Equity Officer leads our commitment and strategy to be a diverse, antiracist, equitable, and inclusive organization. They will be empowered and supported to provide leadership, alignment, and accountability for internal and external equity efforts. They are responsible for setting and implementing an overarching vision of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) for our organization, both at the programmatic and administrative levels, that works to eliminate systemic organizational marginalization and promotes inclusion and anti-racist practices. This position requires a collaborative, courageous, innovative, and visionary leader with a passion for learning and outstanding people and management skills.
Breadth Of Responsibilities
- Design and implement effective programming in multicultural settings; centers most impacted by systemic oppression in program design and delivery; responsive and accountable to community members
- Develop, Review, and Recommend, policies, action plans, and / or initiatives to implement programs that create and address issues of disproportionality, diversity, and cultural competency, in addition to maintaining an environment that ensures accountability and DEIA commitment and leadership
- Check-in, on a regular schedule, with departmental managers and leadership regarding their progress on goals, and help support a culture of accountability and transparency
- Examine existing policies, procedures, and practices and identifies what needs to evolve, be changed, or initiated and develop and / or inform new policies and practices
- Provide best practices for organizations striving to become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive, ensuring staff and community's voice is integrated into equity practice
- Assist and create reports about the analysis of outcomes and performance measures from an equity-lens and use this information to guide improvements in outreach, service delivery, and meeting our mission
- Provide regular updates on diversity, equity, and inclusion activities and progress across the organization, including all staff, leadership, and board meetings
- Will serve as a member of the executive management team
- Create staff training and curriculum based on organizational goals and staff feedback
- Provides positive and developmental feedback and holds team accountable to equity and other performance standards
- Coordinate data collection, entry, and reporting processes relative to equity work and practices. Use data to monitor and report progress.
- Use effective and secure practices in data collection and management to contribute to accurate reporting and protect the confidentiality of staff and participants’ information.
- Outreach is conducted to inform and educate neighborhood residents on CHLDC programs and services to optimize awareness within the community.
- Be involved in the Racial Equity Working Group and Steering Committee
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
